How to Install Apps Onto Your Apple Watch
Installing apps on your watch is easier than ever thanks to the many watchOS updates over the years. And now you can do it right from your wrist.
- Press the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch to see your Home screen.
- Tap on the “App Store” icon to open it.
- Tap “Search” at the top of the screen and choose whether to dictate an app’s name or enter it using the Scribble feature. Tap the one you would like to install.
- Alternatively, scroll down to view the featured apps and tap the one that you want to install.
- Tap the price if the app is to be paid for, or “Get” if it’s free.
- Double-click the Side button when you are prompted to. You may also need to enter your passcode and/or enter the password for your Apple ID, too.
The accompanying iPhone app will also automatically be downloaded if you don’t already have it installed.
You can also install apps onto your Apple Watch from the Watch app on your iPhone if you prefer, which is also how you install apps onto the device in earlier watchOS versions and the earliest Apple Watch models.
How to Remove Apps From Your Apple Watch
Removing apps from your Apple Watch is very similar to deleting them from an iPhone or iPad depending on which app view you are using.
- Press the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch to see your Home screen.
- If you’re using the grid view, tap and hold the app you want to remove. Tap the cross icon and then tap “Delete App” to confirm.
- If you’re using the list view, swipe the app that you want to remove to the left. Then tap the red trash can button.
- Press the Digital Crown to return to your normal app view.
